Affected passengers are advised to refer to the service recovery options provided by the respective airlines, and to get in touch with the airline if more information and clarification are needed.

The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) has shared a notice advising passengers affected by the recent Mount Ruang eruption in Indonesia to check with their airline for their service recovery offer.

In a Facebook post on Monday (22 April), the Malaysian Aviation Commission advised affected passengers to take note that the details of the offer may vary from one airline to another, but should include one of the following:

  1. A one-time change to your travel itinerary should be made free of charge; or
  2. A full refund of your flight ticket amount via the original mode of payment, credit shell or travel voucher.

Affected passengers are advised to refer to the service recovery options provided by the respective airlines, and to get in touch with the airline if more information and clarification are needed.

Please refer to the following links if:

  1. You are trying to find your airline's contact details
  2. You need further clarifications

Passengers are also advised to e-mail MAVCOM at consumer@mavcom.my or contact their consumer hotline at 1800-18-6966 (within Malaysia) or +603-7651 2777 (outside Malaysia).
