It was Unilever Asia’s time to shine at the inaugural Human Resources Excellence Awards 2013 last night, as they cleaned up the event with an astonishing 10 trophies including the overall HR Grand Winner 2013 title.
The awards, hosted by Human Resources, saw Unilever take home six Gold trophies, two Bronze, and the HR Team of the Year award, giving them the prestigious honour of being the first ever HR Grand Winner 2013.
Held last night at the St. Regis Singapore, the awards saw a 300-strong crowd of HR professionals come together to celebrate the finalist organisations across 18 function-based categories.
The breath-taking victory for Unilever, and for all the winners last night, was down to the decisions of a jury panel made up entirely of senior HR professionals, in what is one of the only awards which places all emphasis on peer-to-peer intelligence and benchmarking.
Clinching the coveted title of HR Professional of the Year – and the only individual award of the night – was Girish Ganesan from Manulife Financial, who set the bar high for HR standards in Singapore and won over the judges in his face-to-face interview.
It was also a fantastic night for the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) who took home a total of seven awards, including Gold in Excellence in Mature Workforce Practices, Silver in Excellence in Employer Branding, Excellence in Employee Work-Life Balance, Excellence in HR Technology, Excellence in Recruitment & Retention Strategy and Excellence in Employee Development, as well Bronze for Excellence in Talent Management.
“There is almost no other country where the HR industry is as respected as it is in Singapore, and last night’s inaugural Human Resources Excellence Awards proved this. It’s fantastic to celebrate how committed locally-based HR professionals are to elevating HR standards,” said Rebecca Lewis, editor of Human Resources.
“The turn out for this first-time event has proven there is a real place in Singapore for an awards show like this. I look forward to welcoming an even bigger crowd back for next year’s event.
“Congratulations to all of our well-deserving winners.”
