Jon Teoh was promoted by Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts to the role of group director of learning, effective May 2017. Prior to that, he was the group learning manager at Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts.
As group director of learning, Teoh reports to the assistant vice president and head of Banyan Tree Management Academy (BTMA) based in Phuket, Thailand.
Teoh told Human Resources that his responsibilities included group learning and talent development, overlooking 40 operating hotels and resorts including the Banyan Tree, Angsana, Cassia & Dhawa brands under Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts Group. This includes ensuring training is conducted and addressing the concerns of individual hotels, and planning and organising courses/programmes/workshops for staff of different job grades.
On the priorities for his first year in the role, Teoh said: “My priorities are to ensure the consistency of training delivery, and training efficiency and effectiveness in respective hotels; as well as to ensure that learning and talent development are aligned with the group focus of Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts .”
Before joining Banyan tree Hotels & Resorts, he was with Dorsett Hospitality International as the area training and quality manager for the SEA region.
