When it comes to creating a diverse workforce, companies need to integrate diversity strategies at all levels to ensure these programmes drive innovation and deliver a competitive advantage.

Subarna Malakar, head of diversity and inclusion at Thomson Reuters Asia, says their company embraces all facets of diversity to ensure all employees feel valued.

“The diversity of talent, experience and ideas is the true strength at Thomson Reuters, and a reason why it fosters an inclusive workplace where all employees are valued and have the opportunity to reach their full potential,” he says.

Malakar will elaborate on his thoughts and how Thomson Reuters has implemented their diversity strategies at Recruitment Interactive 2013, being held on November 28 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Singapore.

“To drive innovation and deliver competitive advantage, Thompson Reuters embraces diversity of thought, style, experience, culture, race, colour, gender, national origin, religion, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, citizen status, and veteran status.”

Other speakers on the diversity and inclusion panel discussion include:

  • Debbie Rogers, HR director APAC at Abbott Nutrition International
  • Sehr Ahmed, senior director of HR APAC, Middle East & Africa at McDonald’s
  • Jacqueline Rolf, head of diversity and inclusion at Standard Chartered Bank
  • Amita Chaudhury, global diversity director at Unilever.

Malakar is responsible for implementing D&I transformation strategies and programmes in Asia. He also provides direction, input and guidance to regional D&I council, HR leadership team, senior leaders and employee resource groups.

Prior to this role, Malakar was with Unilever in London and Singapore, where he led the global external diversity relations, global diversity and inclusion communication, global diversity learning and flexibility.
