Presenting the top breakthroughs in relocation strategy

Relocating senior executives to different cities around the world reflects the increasingly global ambitions of large international companies.

However, relocation issues especially in the compliance landscape and acculturation journey affect mobility efforts. To address these challenges, senior HR executives and global mobility experts will gather at Workforce Mobility Interactive 2016 to identify the most effective approaches to staff mobility and expatriate management.

Taking place in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in February 2016, Workforce Mobility Interactive is an exclusive invitation-only conference open to director and VP-level HR professionals and senior mobility specialists from global and multinational companies.

“The secret of organisations with exponential success in workforce mobility is they bring innovation to the table,” said Aditi Sharma Kalra, regional editor of Human Resources magazine.

“Workforce Mobility Interactive will show how companies and HR practitioners can blow away the competition and remove barriers to smooth and successful relocation and acculturation of employees.”

Workforce Mobility Interactive 2016 will address issues the HR community has found to be the most pressing for HR practitioners in Asia. Here is how one of the topics, relocation & acculturation, will be presented at the event.

Carrying over 15 years of experience in global relocations, Stephen Park, global mobility manager of Fonterra, will shed light on various issues in immigration compliance through a case study presentation. Park will enlighten delegates about worldwide immigration law as well as inspections and immigration audits.

Also included in his discussion are effective management of immigration compliance programmes between home and host country locations and solutions to immigration challenges when expanding into new and emerging markets.

The most effective talent pipeline solutions for overseas talent deployment and management will be specified during the keynote session of Thiyagarajan Govindasamy, regional director of human resources at Danfoss Industries.

Some of the issues Govindasamy will examine are critical cross-border policies that hamper mobility in Asia and the importance of a holistic standard of talent mobility that go beyond traditional international assignments and ROI.

The challenges in the deployment and management of mobile talent in the future will be one of the highlights of a panel discussion to be led by Sanjay Ray, global head rewards for performance management & operations at AET, Ian Johnson, senior vice president for client development at Brookfield Global Relocation, Rita Chye, global mobility lead for policy & administration at General Motors and Tarun Gulrajani, human resources head at REHAU.

The panel discussion will address concerns in cost reduction amid demands and expectations of talent and the revision of mobility compensation policies to achieve business objectives.

A second panel will demonstrate how HR leaders can bring their expatriate compensation to a new level. Rahima Ibrahim, senior vice president of human resources at Siemens, Ahmad Fauzi Yahya, regional human resources head at Nestle and Chandralakshmi Thiruchelvam, director for compensation & benefits at Western Digital, will discuss alternatives to long-term assignments and full expatriation packages and solutions to regulatory challenges of managing global and local compliance.

A keynote presentation from Jessie Chan, human resources head at Scomi Energy, will unearth lessons on retaining global employees through a case study by Scomi Marine Group.

Chan will detail the essentials in determining attractive job opportunities and expectations of the repatriate and in utilising newly acquired global skill sets.

Many HR practitioners are in the dark in terms of facilitating intercultural transfer of knowledge and skills in organisations, but for a set of panellists at Workforce Mobility Interactive 2016, clarity begins with understanding the company’s talents and needs.

Thomas Schellerer, HR director at Barry Callebaut, Grace Wong, regional head of HR at Samsung and Carlo Zandueta, head of talent for global commercial businesses at Shell, will discuss global mobility in the context of local leadership development particularly how to leverage on mobility to strengthen local leadership pipeline amid tightening immigration policies.

“Companies without a solid relocation strategy will be left behind so HR departments must keep on gathering new perspectives and techniques that can enhance their relocation policies and operations,” said Evon Yew, regional producer at Human Resources magazine.

“The interactive setting of Workforce Mobility Interactive 2016 will make the exchange of experiences and best practices more open and fluid for speakers and delegates.”

To be held in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in February 2016, Workforce Mobility Interactive is Asia’s only regional conference on staff mobility and expatriate management strategy. Attendance to the one-day annual event is strictly by invitation only with invitations reserved for senior in-house HR professionals.
