In celebration of its 30 years in Singapore, Procter & Gamble (P&G), launched its new e-centre at a ceremony inaugurated by S Iswaran, Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry).
In a press statement to Human Resources, the US$100-million investment, aims to drive end-to-end digital innovation across three core areas:
- e-Business – Translate digital strategies into scalable plans for the region.
- Supply Chain Management (i-Supply) – Transforming P&G’s supply chain end-to-end.
- e-Analytics – Leverage predictive analytics and big data to optimise product and marketing.
In addition, P&G Leadership College, established in 2014, has successfully concluded a half-day training programme for 30 business leaders. They gained skills and insights around digital and e-commerce from speakers from organisations such as Google and NTUC Fairprice.
P&G President, P&G Asia Pacific, Magesvaran Suranjan said: “I believe there is even bigger potential in helping to grow SMEs as our partners in the digital space. There is so much more that can be done and we must continue to grow together. To effectively build digital capability, P&G is far from the only expert.”
P&G first established its 100-man regional sales office in Singapore in 1987, and today serves as P&G’s Asia-Pacific HQ with 2,000 employees. P&G employs 400 researchers at its Singapore Innovation Center (SGIC), and trains over 500 managers annually at its Asia Leadership Development Center.
Equipping locals with digital skillsets
Iswaran explained that partnerships with industry and education institutions help to equip Singaporeans with the skillsets that are needed to succeed in the digital economy.
As such, P&G will be training 40 employees to take on the new digital roles at the E-Center. It will also work closely with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) to co-develop industry-relevant curriculum in digital skillsets.
