Remember the days when social media used to be banned in the office?
Those days are long gone, and social media continues to play an increasingly important role within businesses – especially when it comes to recruitment.
According to the inaugural Monster Employment Index Singapore, year-on-year (Y-O-Y) online recruitment activity went up 6% in May 2014.
The banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) showed the steepest Y-O-Y growth at 25%, and is also the only industry to boast double digit increments.
At the other end of the scale, the import and export industry fared the worse, with a 10% drop Y-O-Y.

When broken down according to occupation, finance and account roles had the biggest Y-O-Y jump at 16%, followed by software, hardware and telecom (14%), and sales and business development, and travel and hospitality (both at 10%).
HR jobs came in fifth at 8%, lagging just behind real estate (9%).
