Only 15% of global employees are not looking for a new job, while nearly half are talking to a recruiter, 15% are speaking to their networks, and 25% are actively looking for their next role.

While these figures from LinkedIn’s Talent Trends 2014 report are not surprising taking into consideration the talent war that’s been raging globally over the past few years, it still highlights a need for leaders to continue pushing out strong retention strategies.

One of the possible reasons for the high levels of both active and passive job search could be job satisfaction levels. According to the report, 45% of 18,000 fully employed workers in 26 countries were “somewhat satisfied” with their current role; 27% said they were very satisfied while 14% were dissatisfied.

However, increasing job satisfaction may not be the be all and end all solution to attrition levels. Of those who were actively seeking new opportunities, 52% reported they were satisfied with their current role, while 80% of passive seekers were satisfied.

Rather, the report highlighted the top five important factors passive and active job-seeking employees take into account when looking for new opportunities.

For passive candidates in Singapore, 43% said they would be enticed by better compensation and benefits to pursue a new job opportunity, 37% said they would move for better work-life balance, while 27% would switch roles for opportunities for advancements.
