Group HR director of Barclays, Irene McDermott Brown, has stepped down down from her role to pursue other interests, with September 30, 2015 as her last day.
Her role will be taken on by Tristram Roberts, currently the HR director for Barclays’ Investment Bank, on an interim basis, while internal and external search for a permanent successor is underway.
McDermott Brown has been froup HR Director since October 2012.
John McFarlane, Barclays group chairman, commented on her departure: “Irene has led the on-going transformation of the HR function in our business, been a key member of the group executive committee over the past three years, and was instrumental in the launch and implementation of Barclays’ purpose and values across the company.”
“She feels that now is a natural time to step down to pursue other interests, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Irene for her significant contribution to Barclays and HR, and to wish her all the very best for the future.”
McDermott Brown said this was “a good time to find a new professional challenge and pursue other interests”, talking about her decision.
“It has been a privilege to lead HR and to be a part of the executive committee of Barclays during a period of huge and important change, particularly in terms of strengthening our culture.”
