HR practitioner appointments

JWT appoints Sylvia Leong as APAC director of HR J. Walter Thompson has appointed Sylvia Leong as Asia Pacific director of human resources, effective 2 February 2017. Leong, who has a strong focus on cultural transformation and change management, joins from Kennametal Inc, where she led a regional HR team across the full spectrum of talent acquisition, engagement and management activities. She has also worked at International Logging Services, as regional HR manager, as well as at MediaCorp.  She is based in Singapore. Read more

Standard Chartered Bank appoints recruiter Aruna Prabs was hired as direct recruiter at Scope International,  a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank in November 2016. Previously she was a recruitment consultant, manufacturing and ICT at Kelly Search. She is based in Malaysia.

Chery Motors strengthens HR team Nadia Rajendran joined the company in January as a senior human resource & admin executive.  She started working in HR in 2015, her previous appointment was HR executive at Vinayaka Missions International University College. She is based in Malaysia.

Marlborough College Malaysia welcomes senior HR manager A human resources generalist with 14 years of experience, Fitri Sapine joined Marlborough College Malaysia as senior HR manager in November 2016. Her previous appointment was human resource generalist (assistant vice-president) of the human resources department at Citigroup Transaction Services. She is based in Malaysia.

Genpact strengthens recruitment team Michelle Lee was appointed recruitment manager at Genpact after spending time with Standard Chartered Bank as talent acquisition specialist.  She has served in the human resources sector since 2009. She is based in Malaysia.

Zahra Haider joins Avondale Grammar School Having specialised in school search for relocation service providers, Zahra Haider was hired as senior enrolments & marketing officer of the school in January. Haider served as the talent acquisition lead at Al-Futtaim in Dubai before relocating to Singapore in 2015.  She served as a temporary education & recruitment consultant at Global Management Consultants before joining Avondale Grammar School.

Singapore Manufacturing Federation beefs up training team Derek Yang joined the federation as senior consultant (L&D) in January.  Previously he was with Lithan, serving as business development manager.  He has nearly 10 years of experience in training, starting out as an associate trainer with Mastereign Media Arts in 2007. He is based in Singapore.

NUS School of Business promotes associate director Rina Ong-Liebnitz was appointed associate director - dean's office (career services) of the school in January.  She joined the National University of Singapore in 2016 as learning and development specialist / careers advisor before earning the promotion. With more than 20 years of experience working in education and human resources, Ong-Liebnitz looks to support young people struggling with the challenges in career and life. She is based in Singapore.

HSBC enhances recruitment team Claudia Madotto joined HSBC as specialist recruiter in November 2016.  She is an experienced international recruitment and talent acquisition leader. She had worked in a variety of geographical areas including the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific, recruiting for a number of professional sectors including, financial services and Fintech. She came over from Oliver James Associates where she was the manager of marketing digital and analytics - Asia.  She is currently based in Hong Kong

Tala Supangco-Ocampo joins Get Hooked 360, Inc. After more than three years freelancing as coach and talent consultant, Supangco-Ocampo was appointed VP for HR at Get Hooked 360, Inc. in January. She is an associate certified coach by the International Coach Federation with over 13 years of practitioner experience in the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Singapore. She is currently based in the Philippines.

Melanie Pereira has new role with Motilal Oswal Financial Services Melanie Pereira was appointed senior manager - human resources at Motilal Oswal Financial Services in January.  She brought with her more than 10 years of experience managing HR for corporations. Her career in HR includes stops at Karvy Stock Broking where she was the regional head - human resources and she was the deputy manager - corporate HR at Ador Welding. She is based in India.

Sanofi promotes regional change manager Sian Fussell was promoted to regional change manager, JPAC, Workday & ANZ leadership lead in January.  She joined the company in 2016 as performance & capability manager ANZ before earning the promotion. She has previously worked in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.  She brings with her more than 10 years of experience in organisational development and learning across multiple industries including transport, retail, gaming and professional services. She is currently based in Australia.

HR solutions provider appointments

Julie Harrison named chief HR Officer at Allianz Asia Pacific Harrison was promoted in January from her role as group head of talent development for Allianz SE. She relocated from Germany to Singapore for the new role. She had been with Allianz since 2004, serving in HR roles for the company in Germany and Singapore.  She brings with her more than 20 years of international experience in human resource management.

Appointments at RGF Sharan Kaur is now principal consultant - digital. She has over eight years’ diverse background in recruitment with professional experience in both agency and in-house roles. She  started in an agency specialising in banking and finance and was exposed to project based recruitment ranging from entry level through to senior level roles. Kaur comes with a unique understanding of the online digital world’s recruitment needs from her previous roles within digital/e-commerce companies, where she gained knowledge in e-commerce, customer insights, digital marketing, online advertisement and cloud. She has also done some work around employer branding, social media and campus hiring. Kaur is based in Singapore.

Meghna Rao is now senior consultant - technology. She possesses more than three years of recruitment experience managing the technology practice. She places technical professionals in the areas of, but not limited to, system engineers, network engineers, infrastructure engineers, storage engineers, database administrators, IT managers, infrastructure architects, and infrastructure project managers. Rao holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer Science and MBA, and would be based in Singapore.

iWV Strengthens MSP Position in Singapore and Malaysia Terence Yeo and Allen Kam join ICONZ-Webvisions (iWV) as the new country sales manager for Singapore and Malaysia respectively. Reporting directly to Group CEO Albert Wong , they will be tasked to grow the Managed Hosting business in the region. Yeo was most recently with Oracle Corporation Singapore as their country sales director focusing on advanced customer services and support. Kam previous appointment was with Ricoh as their solution sales head for the application & workplace business unit.

Promotions at Michael Page Aveenashpal Ganapathy was promoted in January from associate consultant to consultant at Michael Page Malaysia.  He will continue to specialise in the hiring for human resources sector.  Ganapathy has been in the recruitment business since 2014. He is based in Malaysia.

Nellie Wartoft moved up to the role of associate manager - sales & marketing at Michael Page International in January.  She had been with the company since 2013, starting out as an intern - legal; private practice.  She was promoted from senior consultant - sales & marketing; professional/financial services and technology. She is based in Singapore.

New role for Coach Murphy Coach Murphy of People Coaching Works SB was promoted in January to game-based leadership development pathway designer. In the last 3 years, Murphy had focused on using game-based learning activities to develop leaders from various organisations. He had been with People Coaching Works SB since 2008.  He is based in Malaysia.

Promotions at Mercer Puneet Swani was appointed talent & rewards business leader - growth markets in January. He had been with Mercer since 2009 and was promoted from his role as rewards consulting leader - Asia, Middle East & Africa. Swani brings with him over seventeen years of experience advising organisations in over twenty countries across Asia, Middle East and Africa on people and HR issues. He is currently based in Singapore.

Godelieve van Dooren moved up to regional industry & benefits products leader at Mercer in January. From 2013 to 2016 she led Mercer’s insights and products business across 8 countries in ASEAN, and also served as the Mercer Malaysia country manager.  She had been with Mercer since 2007 and was promoted from regional industry leader high tech and consumer goods.  She is based in Singapore.

SoulFit Studios launches in Singapore Anna Tan had added a new branch to his coaching business with the launch of SoulFit Studios in January. SoulFit aims to tackle a modern problem of constant change and increased stress in the working professional. As the CEO and founder at SoulFit Studios, Tan also runs Coaching Go Where and Barrage Vision. She is based in Singapore.

Rumi M joins Randstad Singapore Rumi M was appointed consultant - accounting & finance at Randstad Singapore in January.  He will continue to provide recruiting services in the account and finance sector after serving in a similar role at Page Personnel Singapore as consultant- finance and accounting / secretarial and business support (contracting). He started his career as a recruitment consultant in 2015, he is based in Singapore.

PRA Health Sciences promotes HR business partner Eileen Lee was promoted from senior HR coordinator, APAC to HR business partner in November 2016.  She had been in the HR industry since 2010, she is based in Singapore.

Promotion at RHT Academy Grace Loh was promoted in January from senior manager to associate director.  She had been with the academy since 2016. She brings with her 13 years in the areas of marketing communications, business development, and event project management, in Australia and Singapore. She is currently based in Singapore.

New appointment at JAC Recruitment Group Gladys Lai joined the group as senior recruitment consultant in January.  She had been serving in the recruitment sector since 2014, previously she was a senior consultant at Pasona Singapore. She is based in Singapore.

EY promotes HR business partner Michael Hamor was promoted to HR business partner | talent consultant - global delivery services at EY in January.  He joined EY in 2015 as recruitment lead of global delivery services. He has served for more than 10 years in the HR sector with broad experience in corporate/executive recruitment, employee engagement, talent management and sales training. He is based in the Philippines.

IBM Kenexa promotes hybrid recruiter Lordes Ann Madelo moved up to the role in November 2016.  In her new role, she will be assisting recruiters for sourcing.  She was promoted from her role as a researcher. She is based in the Philippines.

Job changes at Deloitte India Garima Garg was appointed director of Deloitte Human Capital Consulting in January, she moved over from Hay Group.  She has more than 10 years of experience, having served in the HR sector since 2003. She is based in India.

Deepti Agarwal joined Deloitte as manager in January.  She came over from Hay Group where she was an associate principal / consultant II.  She has eight years of working experience in human resources, specialising in leadership development and talent management.  She is based in India.
