HR practitioner appointments

Dawn Toh joins Grab as talent acquisition business partnerJoining Grab as its talent acquisition business partner, Dawn Toh is part of the people operations (POPS) team where she supports the talent acquisition for functional divisions, and manages the corporate hiring of the different verticals in Grab. Reporting directly to the Head of Talent Acquisition; Toh is not only supporting the marketing division, but also oversees the hiring within the POPS human resource division. She is also partnering another team-mate to cover the customer experience department. She is currently based in Singapore and was previously from Connectus Group.

July Tayao joins Savoy Hotel BoracayAs Savoy Hotel Boracay's recently-appointed human resources officer, July Tayao aims to strengthen  his team by encouraging them with a cup of positivity. Speaking to Human Resources, he commented: "Every day is a learning process with motivation, passion, dedication, humility and being focused on whatever you do." He is currently based in Philippines, and was previously working with Worldhotel Makati Inc. where his last appointment was its human resources generalist.

Eugene Tai strengthens Kuok Singapore Limited GroupAfter more than two years in JLL, Eugene Tai recently joined Kuok Singapore Limited Group as its senior manager (group HR), HR business partner. Kuok Singapore Limited Group is a conglomerate of  a variety of business specialisation in shipping, property, and fertiliser. Tai holds more than a decade of experience in HR where he has worked with STMicroelectronics, NCS Group, Public Service Division, United Overseas Bank, and Accenture. He is currently based in Singapore.

Howard Xue joins TAL Education GroupRecently-appointed talent acquisition expert Howard Xue has joined TAL Education Group in June 2017. Previously from Heidrick & Struggles as its associate (global technology and services), Xue had focused on the execution of the executive search assignments in technology area. As a trusted external partner of its clients, his role there was to understand the business, culture and talent acquisition needs; and support the team responsible for sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates. Prior to that, Xue was from BDO LLP and Vanke. He is currently based in China.

Norfarhan Hamzah joins NokiaNokia welcomed recruitment support coordintor Norfarhan Hamzah in May 2017. Previously from Randstad Sourceright APAC Sourcing Centre, Norfarhan served as its sourcing specialist. There, she provided voice recruiting, advanced research and sourcing support to internal and external clients, managed multiple diverse sourcing channels including (but not limited to) career job portals, social medias, headhunting, talent pool and managing candidate database, and more. Prior to that, she has worked with Google as its key person in coordinating back-end support for client groups with recruiting processes for Google Inc., focusing on Asia Pacific market. She is based in Malaysia currently.

Liberty Mutual Insurance introduces talent development and acquisition executiveBased in Malaysia, Nik Amirul strengthens the team at Liberty Mutual Insurance when he joined in June 2017. As its talent development and acquisition executive, he is responsible for preparing training manuals and handouts for employees; planning training courses and sessions and communicate to employees on the planned sessions; planning, managing and monitoring the assigned training budget; as well as coordinating staff recruitment and selection process in order to ensure an organised and comprehensive procedure is used; amongst others.

Shabiera Mazlan relocated to New JerseyShabiera Mazlan joins BD in New Jersey as its HR associate (data management analyst). BD is a global medical technology company that improves medical discovery, diagnostics and the delivery of care. She was previously from Petrona Lubricants Marketing in Malaysia where her last appointment was as its human resources executive for more than two years.

Georgia Ronald joins NovartisAfter close to 6 years at Hays, Georgia Ronald joined Novartis as its talent acquisition manager asia in June 2017. Novartis provides healthcare solutions that improve and extend people’s lives. Using science-based innovation to address some of society’s most challenging healthcare issues, it discovers and develops breakthrough treatments and find new ways to deliver them to as many people as possible. Some of Ronald's past works include working with SRG in United Kingdom where she served as a senior consultant. She is now based in Singapore.

Karen Thomas now part of Accenture's talent acquisition teamKaren Thomas started off her HR career in 2014 with Ambition as its resourcing consultant (banking and financial services). Three years on, she is strengthens the talent acquisition team at Accenture where she is currently recruiting for the analytics and mobility practice in Accenture. Prior to this, Thomas was holding a similar role in Cognizant where she was recruiting for professionals in Java, Testing & Core Banking functions such as T24 and Murex. She is now based in Singapore.

HR solutions provider appointments

Mark Whatley joins MillimanMark Whatley recently joined global consulting and actuarial firm Milliman as a consulting actuary in Singapore as the company further expands its employee benefits practice in Asia to meet the growing demand for its services. In this role, Whatley will focus on further developing the firm’s employee benefits business across multinational, local and government-linked organisations. Previously, Mark directed Willis Towers Watson’s benefits practice in South East Asia. His benefits and financial services experience spans 22 years and three continents, including significant expertise in the South East Asian markets.

Virgin Pulse welcomes senior account managerBased in Singapore, Haider Amir joins Virgin Pulse as its senior account manager. Previously from Aventedge, Haiderholds joined Virgin Pulse in June 2017. In his previous work at Aventedge, he was responsible for the yearly planning/budgeting for the department, planning campaigns for products including sales resourcing, the development of the company’s induction plan; amongst others. Prior to that, Haider was from Study Group and IQPC Worldwide.

Josh Liyu joins Flexywork.com.myTech startup Flexywork.com.my welcomes principal architect Josh Liyu. Previously the co-founder of VHR Consultancy, Liyu is no stranger to HR. Currently, he is in the midst of setting up an employment portal in web and apps version that enable to connect the clients and candidates in an innovative and creative approach. He is based in Malaysia.

Christina Fong joins Agora Group InternationalSince June 2017, Christina is the head of finance and regulatory practice for Agora Group International. With over a decade of recruitment/talent advisory experience, Fong has lived and worked in the UK, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore delivering a number of successful assignments at various levels as well as having project managed specialist talent campaigns such as attracting returning Mandarin and Cantonese speakers to Asia. She is currently based in Singapore, and was previously working with a Korn Ferry, Hydrogen Group and Michael Page.

Joshua Thio relocates to Dubai as regional HR managerRelocating from Singapore to Dubai, Joshua Thio is currently regional HR manager at Kerry Group. Reporting to the regional general manager for MENAT with a functional line to the VP of HR - Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA), Thio’s immediate priorities include harmonisation of the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey markets to the APMEA model; developing and executing a best in class strategy with regards to talent, organisation and culture; as well as managing HR leads in each country to ensure the delivery of services that are best in class as much as possible. His last appointment was as a commercial and graduate recruitment manager at Kerry Group in Singapore.

Korn Ferry Futurestep welcomes recruitment leadRecruitment Lead for Becton Dickinson at Korn Ferry Futurestep, Lai Mae is nvolved in the corporate account management. Mae is currently developing the recruitment and sourcing strategies resulting in hiring top talent in the APAC region. She is specialising in contract/interim, permanent recruitment, as well as executive search and selection. Based in Malaysia, she was previously working with Randstad Sourceright as its ASEAN senior talent acquisition for Lenovo, and for Networkers International PLC as its delivery consultant prior to that.

PALO IT welcomes talent acquisition managerBased in Singapore, Jikun Li joins PALO IT as its talent acquisition manager. In his current role, he is responsible for developing and implementing effective and innovative recruitment strategies for attracting and sourcing high quality candidates; developing the talent pool through creative sourcing techniques including social networking, referral generation, networking, direct sourcing, and advanced internet sourcing; participating in marketing events, user groups, and industry specific interest groups to build relationships and a candidate pipeline; interviewing, screening, and matching candidates to its recruitment pipeline; as well as managing full life cycle hiring process with candidates. He was previously from Mason Frank International where he was a recruitment consultant.

He is based in Malaysia.

JKK promotes director of advertising, branding and digital technologyJasmine Eng was recently promoted to director (advertising, branding and digital technology) overseeing 3 key verticals at James Kenneth Koh Executive Search (JKK). With over 13 years of experience, she is part of the pioneer team at JKK and has established strong relationships with clients and talents and has placed mid to senior talents in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, China, Thailand and Japan. Mercer welcomes Andrew DavyAndrew Davy has recently joined Mercer in May 2017 as its marketing specialist. Currently based in Singapore, he will be managing and marketing Mercer's three Asia HR conferences in Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai. Previously, he headed the marketing for B2B publication Marketing Magazine and its events for the Southeast Asia, South Asia and ANZ regions. His skills include digital marketing, copywriting, social media, event production and management, lead generation, editing, email marketing, remarketing, partnership marketing, client and account management.

Blue Stream Consultancy welcomes director Eva SondhiAn experienced consultant with a demonstrated history of headhunting and recruitment, Eva Sondhi joins Blue Stream Consultancy as director. She specialises in FinTech solutions vendors, professional services, as well as risk and cyber Security verticals across Asia.
