Finding talented and quality staff is the biggest challenge bosses in Singapore’s publishing industry are facing today.
Following reports that bosses in Singapore are “extremely” worried about talent shortage, a study by media agency OMD highlighted “finding the right staff” was the biggest barrier (67%) preventing local publishing firms from expanding their business.
While 89% of respondents stated that they have an in-house technology team, a lack of talent to handle digital media platforms was also highlighted as a concern in the report.
The survey stressed on the need for firms to pay attention to such talent shortages, especially with 72% of respondents stating they are looking to expand their brand overseas.
Other challenges Singaporean publishers reported included rental costs(44%) and a small local market.
One third of publishers also said they face cashflow problems, particularly regarding overseas suppliers.
