Taking care of the condition of our eyes is not only essential for health, it also makes for a more productive and satisfying workplace.
Eyestrain is a common problem in the modern-day office, where employees work long hours on the computer. It happens when the eyes are overused. They get tired and need to rest, just like any other part of the body. If the eyestrain persists after a few days, the sufferer should check with an optometrist or ophthalmologist to make sure it isn’t a more serious problem.
Another common problem is red eye. This is because the eyes’ surface is covered in blood vessels that expand when they’re irritated or infected – giving them a red look. Eyestrain can be the cause, and so can a lack of sleep, or allergies.
Red eyes could be a symptom of different eye conditions, like conjunctivitis or sun damage from not wearing sunglasses when exposed to direct sunlight over a number of years. If the red eye doesn’t resolve after the sufferer has used over-the-counter eye drops or taken rest, one should see an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
