Our first speaker started his professional career in the hotel industry, where he held a number of generalist HR and management development roles for companies such as Radisson SAS and InterContinental.
Today, he is the global CHRO of IPG Mediabrands, supporting the global business and its 10,000 people through a series of major transformational shifts in what has become one of the world’s most dynamic and fast-paced industries today. We welcome, Alastair Procter.

Before we call it a day, we engage in a lively panel discussion on the evolution of technology, AI and robotics, welcoming Sushma Panikker (seated extreme left), joined by panellists (L-R):

With more than 15 years of work experience in L&D, leadership development and talent management, our next speaker has worked with Royal Caribbean Cruise lines, Wipro Technologies and the Emirates Group.
She is currently with the Emaar Hospitality Group as director of leadership and talent development, Sushma Panikker. Her keynote presentation is on identifying your employee’s hidden needs and crafting solutions that are compelling, while utilising human psychology principles to run captivating campaigns.
Following that, we have a speaker with a rich and varied background in as an in-house L&D and OD specialist, as well as in management consulting. Today’s case study will see him identifying the need for creative collaboration, for which we welcome Marako Marcus, managing consultant, Right Management.
Our next speaker is the head of HR for global integrity and compliance, and head of talent management and organisational development at Novartis, Frank Brown, based in Switzerland. Today, he shows the impact integrity has on organisations and their brand reputation, market values and bottom line.
Next we have Dr Thomas Goh, chief client officer and managing director, APAC, Center for Creative Leadership (CCL®), a veteran consultant and business leader with a strong track record over the past 25 years. Today he shares practical insights on how companies can prepare for the new business realities.
“The good thing about learning agility, is that it can be learnt. There are four core competencies around it – seeking, sensemaking, internalising, and applying. These four components have stood the test of time, in all the years that CCL has been conducting research,” Dr Goh explains.
He then lists out the 15 types of learning experiences – bosses and superiors, turnaround, increase in job scope, horizontal move, new initiative, personal experiences, crisis, stakeholder engagement, ethical dilemma, mistake, cultural crossing, career setback, difficult people, feedback and coaching, coursework and training.
The next speaker currently heads HR for Lenovo Asia Pacific and Japan, and has led large complex HR transformation projects in Lenovo and previously with Nokia. We welcome his expertise on the rise of data science in HR – Subhankar Roy Chowdury, executive director, human resources, Asia Pacific, Lenovo.
“Analytics is a lot about experimenting. It’s like a lab – you try out projects, some take off and some don’t. But the possibilities are endless,” he says.
Next up is Dr Raymond Jambaya, lead consultant, L&D technologies, People Potential. With a passion in performance analytics and behaviour change, his work actively revolves around programme design and the implementation of disruptive learning technologies, and today he speaks on actionable intelligence.
Starting the conference, is professor of organisational psychology at Queen Mary, University of London, Rob Briner. He is also a scientific director of the Centre for Evidence-Based Management where his research has focused on wellbeing, absence from work, motivation, as well as non-work and work behaviour. Today, he is sharing on evidence-based practices in HR – we welcome, Rob Briner.
Briner says evidence-based practice is about using the best available evidence from multiple sources to identify problems and solutions. “HR as a profession is not very evidence-based yet – and not unusual for that,” he says, pointing out the barriers to evidence-based practice such as cognitive biases, fads and fashions. To inaugurate the conference, Human Resources’ regional editor Aditi Sharma Kalra takes the stage to welcome all delegates, sponsors and speakers.
