Eight hospital staff in Malaysia arrested for false overtime claims

New Straits Times has reported that the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to charge eight government hospital staff tomorrow over false overtime claims amounting to RM126,757.24.

In the report, it was said that the seven men and a woman (aged between 38 to 26) are medical assistants at Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1.

MACC, in a statement said that they were arrested this morning between 10.19am and 10.35am at the hospital compound. It commented: “They were alleged to have committed the offence of providing false documents namely overtime allowance slips between Jan to May last year.”

“All will be charged with 38 counts of offences under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for intending to deceive the principle (office) by agent. Two of them will also face additional 20 counts under section 28(1)(c) of the same Act for abetment.” the statement read.
