Monday blues can hit pretty hard, particularly after a big weekend. Here are five things you should try easing into your Monday morning schedule to make sure you start your week off on the right foot.
We know waking up Monday morning can be difficult as it is, but squeezing in a quick workout before heading into the office may be just what you need to kick start your week.
There are several benefits to an early morning exercise session, including increasing your mental focus for the rest of the day, higher levels of energy, and just as importantly, the peace of mind knowing you’ve already gotten something huge off your to-do list while everyone else was still lazing around in bed.
Check your calendar
One of the first things I do Monday morning, or even Sunday night, is to go through my week’s calendar again to make sure I am not overlooking a meeting or scheduled to meet someone I had forgotten about. Doing this will also give you a better idea of how to plan the rest of your week and better manage your time, making sure your work is spread evenly through the week.
Find your peak
Everyone has a certain period in the day when they are super productive. While it’s important to eat the frog – that is, doing the one thing you least want to do first, it’s also important to plan your day so you can work through the most tedious and laborious bits during your optimal working periods.
Flag the important emails
Email inboxes tend to be overflowing on a Monday morning, especially if you haven’t been checking it over the weekend (good job on managing your work-life balance!)
However, rather than spending your Monday morning reading and replying every email that came through, address the urgent ones first, flag the important ones so you know which to attend to before lunch, and then sort out the rest throughout the day. Prioritising is definitely key when it comes to emails.
Stay positive, and pass it on
