Singapore names new Manpower Minister

Prime minister Lee Hsien Loong announced several changes to his Cabinet on 8 April 2015 as part of the government's continuing leadership renewal process.

Tan Chuan-Jin, current Minister for Manpower, has been appointed as minister for social and family development with effect from 9 April.

"He will hold both portfolios until he relinquishes his appointment as Minister for Manpower on 4 May 2015," a statement from the Prime Minister's Office read.

Tan will be succeeded by Lim Swee Say, currently a Minister in the Prime Minister's Office.

In addition, Chan Chun Sing, formerly the Minister for Social and Family Development and Second minister for Defence, has been appointed as a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with effect from 9 April.

Lui Tuck Yew, current Minister for Transport, has also been appointed Second Minister for Defence.

The statement included Masagos Zulkifli, currently Second Minister in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been promoted to full Minister, also with effect from 9 April 2015.
