Global - Baby boomers like their employers the least, yet they are the most willing to "go the extra mile" for the company if asked to do so.
Findings from a recent Sirota Survey Intelligence survey showed baby boomers had the lowest overall employer satisfaction (74%) compared with traditionalists who are above 63 years old (85%), Generation X (77%) and Generation Y at 79%. Yet baby boomer employees are most likely to give their all to the company, said the survey as their commitment levels polled are at a high 81%. In contrast, generation Y staff were the least willing to go the extra mile.
Douglas Klein, president of Sirota Survey Intelligence, believes companies should start looking at how to make older workers as part of their recruitment strategy. "Among all employees, mature workers feel their skills are being best utilised, and are best able to understand how their job connects to the overall goals of the company."
