As Red Hat’s new director of human resources in Asia Pacific (APAC), Evelyn Chew will ensure its HR function continuously supports and delivers value to the overall business in meeting company objectives. With HR as the value-contributor and not a cost centre in mind, Chew will collaborate with global, regional and local leaders to develop relevant HR initiatives for APAC offices. She will also help with talent management strategies such as creative recruitment and retention programmes, learning and development efforts and the total work experience. Chew also aims to increase HR resources to support the rapid growth of the business and employees in APAC.

d Michael Lim is the newly appointed director of human resources and organisational change for STB. In this role, Lim will translate business plans into strategic operational HR and organisation development plans to ensure availability of right talent for current and future needs and drive organisational learning to sharpen core and functional competencies. Working in management roles across various areas within STB including corporate planning and human resources & organisational change since 2004, Lim believes this phase of work, in tandem with its Tourism 2015 roadmap, is the most exciting to date. Besides putting in a new HRIS, Lim will also implement a clear career development framework to enhance its succession planning process. This includes a career portal, complete with competency framework for major job families, competency assessment tools and internal job vacancy postings.

Previously with Nokia as its head of human resources development for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, Jeffrey Ong has now taken up the role to head up organisational capability for BT Global Services in APAC. He will be responsible for building organisational capability which includes developing people, implementing talent and organisation development strategies. Besides its reputation in the telecoms sector and consistent top ranking in the Dow Jones Global Sustainability Index, Ong cites BT’s rapid growth in the region as a huge attraction factor for him. “My vision is to grow with BT and in the process make a positive impact to both the business as well as her people.”

Newly promoted to senior human resources manager, Celeste Ng oversees the HR functions for all Asia sites, including Singapore, Malaysia, China, Korea and Japan. As the strategic business partner, Ng is responsible for talent management, organisational development, training, management coaching and developing market competitive C&B programmes while reporting to her US-based VP of HR. Joining Intevec two years ago was a good decision for Ng as she saw the opportunity HR could impact its rapid expansion plans. With 500 employees worldwide, Ng is in the midst of implementing a global HRIS system to position the company for growth and support for its global workforce.
