Who Gwendelene Foo
From Microsoft Singapore
To Husky Injection Molding Systems

Gwendelene Foo is the new HR manager for Husky Injection Molding Systems in South Asia, Korea and Japan. Supported by three HR specialists and one HR coordinator, Foo oversees the HR functions across ten countries in South Asia. For her first project, Foo aims to set up proper HR processes and procedures for the region. While HR remains undeveloped in the company, Foo feels the leaders are giving plenty of support and encouragement for her HR team to achieve their short and long term objectives. For Foo, proper talent management allows the organisation to achieve its business objectives and it starts from understanding the business operations. “By partnering the business to have the right person on the bus and developing appropriate remuneration strategies for retention allows the organisation to face challenges in the market place.”

Who Debanjan Sen
From Hewitt Associates
To SG Private Banking (Asia Pacific)

SG Private Banking has appointed Debanjan Sen as its regional head of HR in Asia Pacific (APAC), excluding Japan. Sen is responsible for developing and maintaining the human resources framework and infrastructure in the bank to attract, source, develop and retain people for the business to operate effectively. Attracted by the global bank’s rapid growth and commitment to talent management, staff development and innovative HR, Sen will be launching PRIV University in Asia to cater to the knowledge and skills development for the front office staff. While it was tough adapting the European modules for APAC use, Sen is glad to receive positive feedback from the full classes. He is also working on a global mobility programme to offer employees better career opportunities in APAC.

Who Maurice Chua

From BJ Services

To AES Asia & Middle East

As the newly appointed regional human resource director of AES Asia & Middle East (AME), Maurice Chua is responsible for assessing the company’s resource capability and availability to meet current and future business needs. His other key initiatives include developing business leaders, managing the regional succession plans, building a highly competent bench and most importantly, integrating people development processes in the AME region. As the company expands into new energy businesses, Chua believes increasing the competencies within current talent will position them for their next phase of growth, including movement within the different divisions. Chua says the opportunity to set-up human resources for the AME region in a rapid-growth organisation was the primary attraction to this role.

Who Angeline Ong

From Acetech

To Anixter Singapore

As the new human resources manager of Anixter (Asia), Angeline Ong is responsible for the full spectrum of HR functions in the region ranging from recruitment, talent development and management, compensation and benefits to performance management. Ong is also in charge of ensuring HR policies are compliant with corporate and local government requirements and maintaining close contacts with both external and internal partners. Besides the prospect of managing regional HR, Ong attributes the support of her superiors and colleagues for enhancing her HR knowledge. Ong believes the implementation of strategic human capital management is the current main challenge in the volatile business environment. Hence, she suggests HR to focus on staff development, career management and talent management and retention programmes in addition to management of daily HR operations for the organisation and employees.
