What do you think is the most important contribution HR can make to a business?
HR can contribute by linking the staff’s sense of belonging with corporate objectives and facilitating the manpower succession planning and development.
What is your best HR achievement up to date?
My best HR achievement was starting and managing HR systems for new businesses such as MediaWorks, along with HR merger issues and organisational development interventions with new acquisitions and reorganisation.
Why a career in HR?
Unlike the old personnel and training functions, a career in HR is engaging and developmental because it requires one to keep an open mind and be challenged all the time. The recent acknowledgement of the HR role by most of the CEOs is a plus factor and to me, the HR role demands high influencing and networking skills.

My favourite travel destination is Japan and I plan to take a Mediterranean cruise for my next holiday.
What if you can only have only personal item/object on YOUR desk, what will it be?
It will be my family photo and my Bible.
If you weren’t in HR, what would you be doing?
I guess I would be in a marketing job as I was in product, retail and merchandising with Fraser and Neave some 20 years ago.
What is your biggest fear at work?
My biggest fear is getting slow responses from staff and colleagues.
What song would you use to motivate your employees?
‘Don’t worry, be happy.’
