What are your areas of coaching and why did you choose this specialty?

I have been running training programmes for leaders since 1980. I focused on working with individuals, groups and teams to help them develop the mindsets and skills to manage global teams and global leadership sessions. However, my main speciality is intercultural work.

What makes your training unique?

Although many people are doing similar things to what I do, I focus on two main things - what is your personality like and what is your culture like. Understanding both is really part of what a global team and a global leader needs to do. What makes me unique is that I am not so theory-oriented. I used theory only as much as it solves practical problems.

My leadership programmes are designed around issues people want to improve on and their needs. What I try to do is link people to a world beyond their own immediate visions so they walk away with a very strong personal learning. They become aware of their values and why they behave like they do in organisations.

How much does a session cost?

A session costs US$8,000 (S$11,000) per day

How will your training benefit your participants?

I help people to concentrate on what it is that they are good at. They will also fully understand that they only need their personalities to develop and use the talent in the workplace effectively. By the time they finish with me, they will be really aware of the differences and where they are on the cultural value.

What companies have you worked with?

Recently I have worked with UN Middle East Regional team, International Water Institute Sri Lanka, Merrill Lynch Singapore.

How long have you been a trainer?

I'm a consultant and trainer for 28 years.

What made you decide to be a trainer?

I was doing leadership programmes with the Sri Lankan government when I noticed that lots of foreigners working in Sri Lanka didn't truly understand the cultural mindsets of the people they were working with. There was a lot of colonialism still alive and well in management theorems techniques, which 99% are based on theories from the West. So I got excited by how I can help different cultures work together and understand each other.

How can people contact you?
