SIM University (UniSIM) is launching a Human Resource Management (HRM) Degree Programme in July this year to meet market demands for talent with specialised HR skills.

Students will be equipped with the four HRM core competencies - change agent, strategic partnership, administrative expert and employee relations. The HRM programme aims to train HR practitioners with the necessary skills and knowledge, applicable across multi-disciplines, in order to execute fully and effectively their new strategic roles.

According to Erman Tan, CEO of Asia Polyurethane Manufacturing, "The UniSIM HRM programme will meet the training needs of students who are interested in pursuing HRM as a career. The programme offers diverse and cross-disciplinary training to students and this certainly equip them with an all-rounded knowledge to tackle the challenges faced by HR personnel in the present business environment."

The demand for highly-skilled HR practitioners has been reflected in research done by The Ministry of Manpower, Singapore Labour Market First Quarter 2007, June 2007, which highlights the HR manager job as one of the top 10 job vacancies to be filled in 2005 and 2006.
