What it is
When you’re overseas on a business trip, one of your most important possessions is probably your laptop, which is chock full of important slides and presentations. To help you protect it, lock alarm comes in handy. The gadget is best suited for executives who travel on business frequently and worry about the security of their laptop and other valuables.

How it works
With lock alarm and its cable that extends up to 24 inches, you can coil the plastic-wrapped steel cable around the laptop and secure it to a table leg, bench or any other heavy object. When the cable is cut or the combination lock is tampered, the alarm gives off a loud 100 decibel ring – loud enough to alert someone in the vicinity about the potential theft.

The lock also comes with an optional movement censor that sounds the alarm if the lock is moved. The lock can also be used to secure other valuables such as briefcases and hotel doors.

Drawbacks
The lock runs on not one, but four 1.5 volt batteries.

Where to buy it

The local alarm can be purchased online at skymall.com for US$24.95 (S$37.69).
