25% Talent Development and Management

In my previous appointments at Prudential Assurance Company & Asia Pacific Breweries, a large percentage of my time is spent on attracting and retaining talent within the organisation via talent identification, talent review as well as learning and development roadmap.  I find leading the work in managing the ongoing development of talent pools and key management very challenging especially when I have to advise and collaborate with HR Business Partners and Senior Management Teams. This actually strengthens my EQ competency.  Putting in place career progression paths for different job families as well as a Learning & Development Portal are also part of my job.

25% Employee Engagement
Another 25% of my time entails developing employee engagement strategies to drive the message of connectivity and commitment into the hearts and minds of employees. These strategies are categorized into three dimensions, namely, Work-Life Balance, Bonding (Social & Recreation) and Communication Channels.  When employees tell me that they feel so ‘Part of the Organization’, that makes my day too!

25% Managing the Learning & Development Function

Another 20% of what I do is overseeing the learning and development function of the Organization: management & coaching of learning staff, learning administration, learning needs analysis, evaluation of learning effectiveness, development of annual learning budget, monitoring of learning expenses, update of learning policies & procedures, and maintenance of learning information system.  I also facilitate and deliver in-house learning programmes.

15% - Family & Church
This includes quality time with my daughter, aged 13, my son, aged 11 and of course my hubby too.

10% - Sports & Recreation

Being an advocate of Work-Life Balance practices, besides spending quality time with my family, I jog 2 – 3 times a week and do aerobic dance at home once a week.  So far, my time taken to run 8 km at Hougang Stadium is 50 minutes and I hope to cover 10km within 1 hour.  I'm currently training for the Great Eastern Women 10K (GE10K) on 21 October 2007 to prove that women after 40 can still have an active, sporty lifestyle.  Being a passionate and determined HR professional as well as a sports enthusiast, I have also entered the GE10K’s Lancaster Sun Leading Ladies Challenge (which singles out participants in managerial positions) for added incentive.
