e-contacts

What is it?

Spring cleaning your rolodex can be a rather time-consuming task, not to mention the frustration of hunting for a misplaced business card. In today's paperless office, stashing away a pile of name cards just doesn't cut it anymore.

Corex's CardScan Executive 600cx is a dedicated 16cm wide by 12cm deep and 5.5cm tall business card scanner/software bundle that can efficiently turn a pile of paper cards into a digital resource.

How does it work?

Feed a card into the input slot and the device will scan and store the data. You can also extract contact details to a database that can then be synchronised with a variety of other platforms such as company databases, Outlook and even handheld devices. The scanner also allows you to edit information that's been scanned. You also get an online address book that's both a useful backup and a widely accessible resource.

The installation is quite straightforward. First, load and start up the CardScan 6.0.5 software, then connect the scanner's USB cable and follow the Scanner Setup Wizard's instructions.

Drawbacks?

Cardscan Executive doesn't come cheap and it's only for PC users.

Where to get one?
