Planning 35%

This key responsibility is vital to the future success of both the HR department and the hotel. I'll usually put aside time to strategise my department's direction and align it to the hotel's current and future business needs. In our pursuit for excellence - one of our core values - substantial amount of my time is also spent on ensuring that we constantly strive to be innovative whilst aiming for greatness. I tasted the fruits of my labour when Royal Plaza on Scotts was recognised as a Singapore Innovation Class organisation by Spring Singapore. On top of that, we are proud to be certified with the Singapore Quality Class and the Singapore Service Class awards.

Learning & development and rewards & recognition 35%

Employee development is important, thus an essential part of my role involves planning and organising training programmes. We provide appropriate learning and development for staff and reward those who excel.

FISH! is our way of life and the staff are energised by having fun at work. My time is spent developing and implementing FISH! programmes so that everyone will have fun within the work environment.

Communications and meetings 25%

I spend a considerable amount of my time identifying training needs for the various departments and regularly communicate with them to see how I can provide better support. Meetings are organised to update the hotel's performance and all departments' contribution to the overall success of Royal Plaza on Scotts.

Industrial relations 5%

We have a cordial relationship with the union and time is spent on information sharing for better understanding of each other's role.

If I had more time, I would spend it with my two wonderful kids..
