Sherine Chua has been appointed to the position of director of human resources at InterContinental Hotel Singapore where she will be responsible for managing the HR operations, handling recruitment and strategising benefits. Chua brings with her 14 years of HR expertise to InterContinental. She was previously senior HR manager at Singapore Telecommunications and assistant HR director at Raffles The Plaza and swissôtel The Stamford. During her eight years tenure with Raffles International, Chua was involved in the launch of regional hotels and was responsible for overall HR matters.
Rahiman Bakar adds another country of responsibility to his human resources management portfolio at United Parcel Service (UPS) as the new HR manager for UPS Singapore & Malaysia. Bakar joined the global package delivery company over seven years ago as an HR manager at UPS Malaysia. Drawing upon more than two decades of HR experience in various industries including food & beverage, electronics and logistics, Bakar hopes to share his passion for great performance management systems with both HR teams in Singapore and Malaysia, and make decisions that will positively impact the employees.
Rosemary Soong has been confirmed as Jetstar Asia's new head of human resources. Soong joins the low-cost carrier after eight years in Giordano where she was the person responsible for HR matters. Drawing upon more than a decade of HR and operations experience, Soong commented, "Jetstar Asia sees HR as more than just human capital administrators. Instead my team and I act as catalysts that bring out the best in each member of staff. We aim to add value to the brand through our people strategy."
Margaret Tan is DHL International's new regional head of compensation & benefits. Stationed at the Singapore office, Tan will work closely with various HR country managers and compensation & benefits teams as well as the compensation personnel of Deutsche Post World Net, DHL's parent company. Tan joins the worldwide express and logistics company with nearly 20 years of compensation & benefits experience. In addition, she has spent nearly 15 years with IBM in a variety of HR roles covering South Asia and was at Apple Computers for more than four years.
