Valerie Low has been appointed to the position of vice president of organisational development at Orient Networks, Asia's largest private telecoms network service provider. Drawing upon over 10 years of senior HR management experience in multinational companies in America, Europe and Asia Pacific, Low will be responsible for the organisational development of the company in its regional expansion campaign. A member of the executive committee, Low will assume a leadership position in formulating and articulating the company's vision and mission by leading product and technology development, marketing initiatives and heading business growth. Low's responsibility includes turning Orient Networks into an employer of choice within the industry.

Helen Loh has joined Symantec Inc, the global information security consumer solutions provider, as its senior human resources manager. Based in Singapore, she will be managing the full spectrum of HR functions in the Asia Pacific region. Loh is an HR veteran and brings more than 18 years of work experience with international technology companies to her new role. She joins Symantec after a four-year stint at PeopleSoft where she was in charge of the Greater China and South Asia region. Loh was placed by PERSONef International.


Joseph Chia is the new recruitment & human resources operations manager for Shangri-La Hotel Singapore. In his latest role, Chia will be responsible for retaining and recruiting talent and managing the day-to-day HR activities in Shangri-La. Chia joins the premier city resort hotel after a four-year stint in Holiday Inn Park Hotel as HR manager. His HR experience spans more than a decade and includes roles in the manufacturing and hospitality industries. Commenting on his appointment, Chia says, "I see it as an exciting challenge to get to know and work with new people. I'm happy with the prospects of the appointment and look forward to add more value to the hotel."


Damon Barlow has been contracted by newly launched budget airline, Jetstar Asia as interim recruitment manager. Barlow was one of Hudson's top consultants before he joined his former client, Jetstar, on a contract basis. He recruited all permanent employees and set up the recruitment processes for both the executive team and flight crew. Barlow operated his recruitment drive on a tight budget, using industry contacts, recruitment websites and minimal print advertisements. Within months, Barlow recruited 150 staff consisting of 50 management employees and 100 cabin crew members. Commenting on his achievement Barlow says, "It is very gratifying to look around six months later and see a company full of fantastic people."
