One in four wants to scale new heights

UK – One in four workers will take time off to scale new heights – literally, by climbing the Himalayas.

In a survey by Norwich Union, it found that 25% of respondents say that they were planning a vacation next year. While many said they were intending to spend their vacation time with family, over three quarters intended to spend their vacation time volunteering or climbing mountains.

Director of charity VSO UK, Judith Brodie said that companies are increasingly accepting of their employees taking sabbaticals. “As we move further away from the traditional idea of the linear career path, there seems to be a growing acceptance that allowing your staff time to develop their skills and widen their experiences outside of the workplace is good for business.”
