Trainer

Providend Centre of Financial Education

What are your areas of specialisation and why did you choose this specialty?

My area of specialisation is "money coaching". Money coaching combines practical financial guidance with sound interactive coaching principles to help people transform their relationship with money. I chose this field because it became clear after years of working as a financial adviser that most people need help and guidance with understanding and changing their largely "unconscious" money behaviours. Money is a core survival issue and yet we have almost no training or positive modelling around it. As a result, our individual and collective money patterns often cause us a great deal of unnecessary suffering, loss and hardship.

What makes your training unique?

Coping with money issues both practically and emotionally continues to be a major life struggle for millions of people and yet there is very little help available. Through a step-by-step process, coaches learn to guide their clients to a deeper understanding of their "unconscious" money patterns and beliefs, which often prevent them from experiencing their true potential. Our training programmes help individuals in identifying and moving beyond these restrictions. This can result in a much greater personal satisfaction, increased abundance and enhanced success in life.

How much does a session cost?

For the man in the street who wants to understand money and take the first steps toward making better decisions about money, we have our one-day "warrior boot camp" for S$500. Practitioners (including financial advisers, coaches, counsellors and even psychologists) who want to become certified money coaches have to go through a three-day programme followed by 12 weeks of mentoring at a cost of S$3,500.

How will your training benefit your participants?

Participants will leave with a clear understanding
of how their money patterns, beliefs and behaviours influence their financial decisions, choices and relationships, as well as how to work with others to discover this. The first stage of change is awareness. Once you know what something is and understand it, you are free to make another choice and do it differently. Participants leave with an increased self-awareness and the hope that they can create a new and better financial reality.

What companies have you conducted training sessions for?

Kyoob Interior Design Group, Institute of Noetic Sciences, California CPA board and San Francisco's Financial Planning Association.

How long have you been a trainer?

I've been training and facilitating individuals and groups for most of my career, but in this current capacity for about 10 years.

What was your profession before you started as a trainer?

I was a financial adviser for more than 23 years and worked for firms such as Merrill Lynch and AIG. I left the financial services industry in 2001 to pioneer the field of money coaching.

Why did you decide to be a trainer?

I am passionately committed to helping people live more purposeful and financially empowered lives.

What school did you graduate from?

Loyola Marymount University in English literature and writing major. Relative to what I do today, I am a voracious, life-long learner and largely self-taught.

How can we get in touch with you?

I can be reached through Christopher Tan by phone 63092488 or email moneycoach@providend-cfe.com. Alternatively, I can be contacted by email at dprice@money-therapy.com.
