INDIA
India - An overwhelming 91% of Indian employees are confident that the job prospects in the country would be 'excellent' or 'good' in the next 12 months.
In the recent Nielsen Global Consumer Confidence Index conducted in March this year, it found that India came in tops for having the most optimistic job prospects. This was followed by Singapore at 76% who were confident that job prospects were on the rise.
In fact, one in four Indian consumers believe that the country will be out of the recession in the next 12 months, reported Livemint.
The confidence in jobs and the economy has translated to consumer spending habits as well, as 8% of respondents think it is an "excellent" time to buy items that they need, while 44% think it was a 'good' time to do so.
“The rising confidence index shows a rebounding faith in economy and hope for a more optimistic future,” said The Nielsen Co.’s managing director, South Asia, Piyush Mathur.
Nielsen's Global Consumer Confidence Index tracks consumer confidence, major concerns and spending intentions among more than 27,000 Internet users in 55 countries.
