What are your areas of coaching and why did you choose this specialty?

I work with executives on leadership communication skills, which include media training, public speaking and even how to use story-telling as a business communication tool.

I've had many opportunities to hone my own communication skills as well as observe many leaders exhibit theirs. I realise that there are communication skills and techniques which one can pick up, even if you are not "born with it", so to speak.

What makes your training unique?

My background. I have been interviewed extensively over many years so I know a little about what it's like to be in the hot seat. I was a journalist with Singapore Press Holdings and Channel NewsAsia (CNA) and in many ways, I still think of myself as one. I understand what journalists are looking for. Lastly, I had a stint in a PR agency, post-CNA. That gave me precious insights on how to handle the media from a PR perspective.

How much does a session cost?

Due to the highly customised nature of my workshops, I need to assess the client's needs before quoting a fee. But the fee can start from $400 per person, depending on the class size.

How will your training benefit your participants?

My clients will learn techniques to handle difficult questions posed by the media. They will also learn how to compose and conduct themselves in front of the camera and how to give the journalists what he or she wants to achieve
win-win outcomes for both parties.

What companies have you worked with?

United Overseas Bank, Building & Construction Authority and Goodrich Global.

How long have you been a trainer for?

I have been a trainer since 2006.

What made you decide to be a trainer?

I like to make a difference. As a journalist, there was always a chance that my stories would help some people. It is the same with training. There's always a chance that I can help improve the way a person communicates.
