Who: Jane Ting

From: Rasa Sentosa Resort, Shangri-la

To: SP PowerGrid (SPPG)

Recently appointed as head of human resource for SP PowerGrid (SPPG), Jane Ting is responsible for the full spectrum of human resources ranging from manpower planning, industrial relations to learning and development. At this juncture, Ting is currently working on streamlining the power company's HR processes in order to enhance its HR system. Talent acquisition is another key area Ting is working actively on to ensure growth for her organisation. She is also working with her team to further SPPG's operational excellence by setting objectives in boosting its workforce capabilities. With over 20 years of HR management skills, Ting views people as the key assets to her organisation, hence she has adopted a very open approach in handling issues. She says, "Staff should have the opportunity to air their point of views. It is my role to hear them and look out the ‘win win' situation for both the organisation and staff."

 

Who: Goh Ai Lin

From: Lawton & Yeo Design Associates

To: Roots Communication

Goh Ai Lin, the new human resource manager for test and measurement solutions provider Roots Communication, is responsible for ensuring all employees are well taken care of in terms of their benefits and welfare. She is also tasked to look into every individual's career advancement and development programme, as well as, talent management initiatives. Besides improving the various HR processes and working with different business unit managers to build their talent pool, Goh plans to get her hands "dirty" quickly. She says her first challenge is delving deeper into understanding the telecommunications solutions support industry and the company's business model better. Goh says this will help her strategise on how to add value with her HR expertise when rolling out best practices into the organisation. With almost eight years of HR experience in the aerospace industry and one year in the industrial design sector, Goh is confident of integrating herself into her new role seamlessly. "Different companies have their differences in work cultures, processes. But HR being generic, it is all about people management."

 

Who: Yasmin Akhtar

From: JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort, Thailand

To: Singapore Marriott Hotel

The Singapore Marriott Hotel has recently appointed Yasmin Akhtar as their new director of human resources. Akhtar first joined Marriott International as the organisation's area HR director for Asia Pacific. After which, she has also worked as a HR consultant for the opening of Manila Marriott Hotel in Philippines and JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort in Thailand. Akhtar began her career with the Intercontinental Hotel Group in Singapore and has degrees and diplomas in education, personnel management and human development. "Yasmin brings with her excellent management abilities and human relation skills, this coupled with her extensive past professional experience in the hospitality industry, she will most definitely be a valuable asset to the team," says general manager, Antony Page.

 

Who: Eunice Goh

From: UPS Asia Pacific

To:  UPS Singapore

Eunice Goh is now the new HR manager for UPS Singapore. As the previous HR manager for UPS Asia Pacific, Goh says the wider geographical coverage at the regional level meant that her position was highly specialised. As she now oversees all HR matters for the Singapore office, Goh now has a wider scope of involvement in the UPS business. "Now, I work closely with UPS's operations which gives me deeper insights into the company's products and services." This is Goh's second job rotation since joining the company in 2007, something which she says is a testament to the organisation's comprehensive career development plan for its employees. "Through regular job rotations, UPSers have the opportunity to develop their skills and improve themselves, which prepares us for bigger roles in future." Goh says her key priorities for this is will be to strengthen the company's employee relations and CSR involvements. When asked what she enjoys most about HR, Goh says she likes working with people as well as meetings the needs of both the employees and organisation.
