TAIWAN
Taiwan - Over 90% of university graduates say they would be sending their resumes and job applications at least four mouths before graduation.
In a recent survey conducted by 1111 Job Bank, it found that students are taking such measures as they expect the domestic job market to tighten with the economic recovery.
Seventy-two percent of fresh job seekers also added that they intend to visit job fairs held at campuses as they can use the opportunity to learn about job trends. Out of those likely to visit job fairs, 90% said they would want to submit their resumes on the spot.
Confidence levels among soon-to-graduate university students was not at a full high, as many expected to wait an average of 2.26 months before finding a job this year. However, this is better than last year's expectations, when university graduates expected to job hunt for six months before finding a new job.
In addition, the starting monthly pay expected by new job-seekers average is NT$25,919 (S$1,138) this year, which is NT$1,115 (S$48) less from 2009.
