EXECUTIVE EDUCATION   EMPLOYMENT

US - Despite the poor employment climate, a majority of MBA students say they found employment easily in 2009.

In a survey conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), 75% of business school graduates who earned MBAs from a full-time programme in 2009 said they were employed at the time of the research in September 2009. Meanwhile, 96% of survey participants who completed part-time MBA programmes in 2009 found work as well.

However, graduates who found jobs in 2009 were offered lower starting salaries compared to counterparts of previous years. Last year, , the median starting salary for all survey participants was US$79,271 (S$112,533), down from $80,000 (S$113,568) from the previous year.

But slightly more than half of survey respondents said that the pay met their expectations, while 14% said they were paid more than they anticipated.

Dave Wilson, president and CEO of GMAC says, "The remarkable success individuals with graduate management degrees continue to have when looking for  employment - even in a down economy - is further evidence of the  high value employers place on management education."
