Chinese companies face talent crunch

China – As Chinese companies begin to internationalize or begin their process of IPO, many are encountering an unprecedented challenge of facing a talent shortage. Danny Yuan, managing director for Manpower China says if Chinese private companies want to succeed in the talent war with multinational companies, they should prioritise building their employer brands, improving management systems and processes and establishing a scientific decision-making mechanism to development and grow talent.

41% private companies in the phase of internationalisation say they face difficulties in attracting talent needed for international market development. On the other hand, companies that are in the process of IPO say their main HR challenge is changing the company’s organisational structure and management system.

54% companies said designers and R&D talent are the most recruited positions in their organisations, followed by sales, production staff and technicians.

71% of most recruited talent at managerial level are production & quality control personnel. At the non-managerial level, the most recruited talent are concentrated on the on procurement and customer service functions.

88% of the highly sought-after talent at managerial levels are HR professionals, say the 166 Chinese private companies surveyed.
