Previously from Dow Chemical Singapore, Marcus Budimulia is now the new HR manager for Givaudan Southeast Asia (SEA). He is in charge of all HR activities in the region, working closely with the flavour and fragrance manufacturer’s country leaders and senior business leaders in SEA. Budimulia is also currently working on an HR project which will ensure a smooth integration for employees from acquired companies. Other HR strategies he has in mind include exploring work-life balance programmes, reviewing regional compensation and benefits, designing a HR team development programme and supporting the implementation of new corporate programmes. Describing his working style as open with ideas and communication, Budimulia prefers to give team members freedom and creativity in solving problems. He says, “[This] could encourage people to be creative and take calculated risk. It also gives them a sense of belonging.”

Victor Lau has recently been appointed as The Sentosa Resort and Spa’s new HR director. Previously from Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Lau oversees the full spectrum of HR activities. According to Lau, his time at The Sentosa Resort and Spa has been a challenge as he joined at the same time as the organisation’s general manager. Since then, Lau has been spearheading new HR initiatives such as improving employee satisfaction, staff performance and performance-related rewards to align their 300 employees to the company’s new vision and mission. When asked what drew him to his new employer, Lau says, “I have been working in the city hotels for the last decades. It is a great change and also a value-add to my experience.”

Srinidhi Rao has recently been appointed as the head of human resources at Bilcare Singapore, a pharma packaging research and technology organisation. Based in Changi, Srinidhi oversees approximately 100 to 120 employees. Having worked in technology companies such as Perot Systems and Yokogawa before, Srinidhi says this move into an entirely different industry has provided a new and personal challenge for his career. “I’ve always been in the technology industry and this is a brand new challenge for me.” Srinidhi is now in the process of meeting the various stakeholders and understanding the business better.

Ivy Oh is the newly appointed vice president of corporate HR at Certis CISCO Security. Her responsibilities include leading HR functions in the areas of compensation and benefits, talent resourcing, and human capital development. Oh, who was previously working for DHL, says she is attracted to her current company because she looks forward to playing her part in enhancing the HR approaches and framework for the 8,000 employees who are the critical driving force behind the business. So far, Oh has been involved in working on integrations, mergers and acquisitions, and organisational changes for the company, something which she describes as challenging. “A proper change management plan is most crucial in managing the transition to determine the level of its success.” She prefers a consultative and collaborative approach while working because she believes that open communication is the key to achieving the desired business results.
