RECRUITMENT    HAYS

Singapore - The number of employees looking to change jobs seems to be picking up. In fact, 54% of 861 Singaporean candidates polled said they know of "quite a few" people hunting for a new job now.

In addition, only 31% believed that most people would just want to stay in their current role, while 15% said that their friends are not currently working.

Chris Mead, general manager of Hays Singapore has that he has seen a significant increase in the number of employed people looking to change jobs, as many feel overworked and undervalued.

"Some feel frustrated by a lack of career progression this year. They held off exploring other opportunities until signs of economic stabilisation were clear," Mead said, adding that these candidates are now looking for roles that offer them real career growth.

In addition, it seems that the number of recruitment ads has also picked up as well. In UOB Kay Hian's latest report, it found that jobs ads were up by 6% last month with 321 recruitment pages, compared to 303 pages in October last year.
