From Herbalife International

To Pan Pacific Hotels Group

Melody King has recently been appointed senior vice president of HR at the Pan Pacific Hotels Group where she will build capability and develop talent for the organisation as it expands its hotel portfolio. King was formerly working at Herbalife International as the head of HR for the past eight years. She also has 20 years of experience in HR management and development and has lived and worked in China, United States, New Zealand. Having commenced her career in Shangri-La and worked at Swissotel and Westin thereafter, King says she is delighted to join Pan Pacific Hotels Group and return to the hospitality industry where she first began. And because an organisation is only as strong as its team, King says that the company’s “focus will be on strategic talent management, growth and motivation.”

Who Hua Tai Kit

From Gartner Asia

To Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA)

As the newly appointed senior manager of human resource policy and management, Hua Tai Kit is tasked with formulating IDA’s overall recruitment strategy with a focus on improving the quality of its new recruits. Previously from Gartner Asia, Hua says he was attracted to the role in IDA due to its goal of cultivating a vibrant infocomm ecosystem for Singapore. Hua says he enjoys recruitment as it not only enables him to meet and interact with potential candidates but also serves as the window for candidates to get a first glimpse of the company’s culture. He is currently implementing a new recruitment and talent management system at IDA. When asked to describe his working style, Hua says, “I believe in assuming responsibility and leading by example. We should have the right commitment levels and be passionate about what we do to produce excellent results.”

Who Janice Yan

From UPS Regional Office

To UPS Singapore

Janice Yan has moved from UPS’s regional office to take the role of the new HR manager for UPS Singapore. Previously, she specialized in UPS’s compensation & benefits package for 14 countries in the Asia Pacific region but will now oversee the company’s employee relations and communications related issues as well as all learning & development activities. Due to the tremendous pressure to effectively manage cots during the downturn, Yan believes that the role of HR is to rethink its strategy on managing human capital during such difficult times. However, she enjoys her new role because “each day is a new experience and a fantastic learning opportunity”. Yan also intends to uphold the company’s focus on safe working methods by improving the operational awareness of UPS’s Health & Safety regulations and specifically, to reduce the number of workplace injury incidents.

Who Lau Wah Yuen

From SingHealth

To Integrated Health Information Systems

As the senior manager of Integrated Health Information Systems (IHiS), Lau Wah Yuen currently manages the learning and development aspects of the company. IHiS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ministry of Health Holdings, is the consolidated entity of IT resources of the different restructured healthcare entities and now has more than 600 staff under its wing. As a newly formed corporation, Wah Yuen says his work focuses on many organisational development challenges, which he finds very stimulating. Some of Wah Yuen’s work include staff engagement, culture building as well as change management initiatives.
