FEDEX  SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Singapore - Twenty FedEx volunteers served a local community home in Singapore on Friday.

Employees dedicated their time to "Project Evergreen" by restoring an organic garden at the Geylang Home of the Aged. They brought 20 elderly residents out on a visit to an organic farm, "Bollywood Veggies". This was followed by an organic lunch at the Poison Ivy Bistro.

The project is part of an annual week-long initiative to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism, collaboration and community at FedEx, which included more than 3,000 volunteers worldwide this year.

"Our employees' willingness and passion to make our community a better place to work, live and play is truly amazing," said Clifton Chua, managing director at FedEx Express Singapore. "This has been such a rewarding experience to be able to educate the elderly on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and diet through meaningful activities such as this."

This is also the second time employees in the Asia Pacific region have taken part in the global 'FedEx Initiative Week' initiative which took place between 14 to 20 September. Countries involved includes Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam.

Each year, FedEx employees log more than 10,000 hours in support of volunteer work in support of various community causes in the areas of education, disaster relief, child pedestrian safety, and health and human services.

"We will continue to build on a culture of charitable giving and volunteerism that has been the hallmark of our company for decades," Chua added.
