Singapore - To remain one of the best airlines in the world, Singapore Airlines Group of Companies and unions reasserted their commitment to be pro-business and pro-workers.
The Singapore Airlines Group Union-Management Partnership in conjunction with Labour Movement 2011 pioneered in February 2007 a series of joint management union workshops. It aims to be pro-workers by taking good care of workers and rewarding them for their contribution.
The initiative to be pro-workers prompts SIA companies and unions to explore and support re-employment of older employees and retired workers. They also work at enhancing employability by providing skills training and upgrading for workers as well as career management for cabin crew. Employee work-life balance is also taken care of with workplace health programmes.
SIA Group of Companies and unions joined hands by sharing information and discussing how they can deal with the challenges and concerns of improving the companies' competitiveness.
In a recent Channel News Asia report, SIA Chairman Stephen Lee was reported as saying that both parties should not let matters such as salary issues of the airline's pilots to affect the partnership adversely.
