BIZARRE HR

US - A Target employee from New York who witnessed a customer dropping a diamond ring in the supermarket accidentally handed it to a different person later.

The police said the US$19,000 (S$27,649) diamond ring slipped off a 42-year-old woman's finger while she was in the store, according to UPI. The employee ran out into the parking lot to find her, but did not actually find the ring's owner. Instead, a woman in a similar hairstyle and coat claimed the ring to be hers after the employee showed it to her and asked if she had dropped it.

The woman who claimed the ring used cash to pay for her purchases, and the police are trying to identify her through the security camera footage.

The true owner of the ring said it had been a tenth-year anniversary gift from her husband.

"The ring meant a lot to me," she says. "My husband worked hard to buy me that ring. No matter what the circumstances, it's not hers. The insurance company paid me, but I don't want the money. I want the ring back."
