Who Julie Jarvis

From DHL Supply Chain Logistics Greater China

To DHL Supply Chain Logistics Asia Pacific

Julie Jarvis has been promoted to VP of HR for DHL Supply Chain Logistics Asia Pacific. Prior to her new role, Jarvis was most recently a supporting HR leader for DHL’s Greater China supply chain business. The last three years also saw her lead the resourcing effectiveness work for DHL across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region with responsibility in establishing, designing and delivering resourcing infrastructure, solutions, skills, tools and standards. During this time, Julie held roles of increasing responsibility in generalist, specialist and project roles with a lot of change management. Jarvis says she hopes to bring leadership in areas including change management, talent management, development and deployment of HR solutions and active day-to-day HR generalist support to the business.

Who Carrie Chee

From Borneo Motors

To Singapore Turf Club

Carrie Chee is the new HR assistant manager at Singapore Turf Club. Her responsibilities include overseeing all benefits like leave and travel claims, reviewing HR policies to meet changing needs, and ensuring the objectives of staff welfare are met. She also oversees the discipline, motivation and work performance of HR assistants. Chee enjoys coming up with creative ways to manage issues and the challenges she is exposed to. She likes Singapore Turf Club as it is “a company that focuses on not just their core business but puts emphasis on their human resources management as well as its society and environment”. Chee is currently exposed to casual labour management, which poses a challenge as it involves “managing a group of people with different job scopes, background and compensation methods”.

Who Shirley Lee

From AXA Life Insurance Singapore

To ipac wealth management Asia

Shirley Lee has been promoted to the new head of HR for ipac wealth management Asia and is mainly responsible for HR strategy and operations. Prior to this, she oversaw HR in the AXA Life Insurance Singapore business and had the support of a team of one manager and two specialists. With this new position, Lee will focus on ipac wealth management issues independently and will have more time to provide coaching and support to the three operations in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. Her key role is to “ensure that people stay motivated and focused on delivery”. Lee believes the single focus in this job will allow her to get involved in more day-to-day business issues. She feels HR can be a better business partner by being involved in the business, understanding the challenges and their impact on people as well as providing the energy and support for the organisation.

Who Cherlene Chan

From Citibella

To LF (1937) Management Singapore

As the new HR officer at LF (1937) Management Singapore, Cherlene Chan is responsible for the full spectrum of HR functions for three business units. Formerly an HR and accounts executive for a retail line, she is able to apply her knowledge and experience to her new job and also make use of the opportunity to learn and grow. Chan initially found it difficult to adapt to her new working environment. However, her passion in HR and the guidance of her HR manager made it easier for her to understand the needs of the different business units. Also, a challenge Chan often encounters is the need to convince top management to “accept any changes or improvement”, as they often have their own mindsets and working styles.
