SURVEY  UNITED STATES

US - Even with an unemployment rate of 9.4%, most employed Americans are not worried about being laid off.

A recent study by Bankrate of New York surveyed 1,000 adults, and two thirds of them reported knowing someone who had lost their jobs in this recession. However, almost 80% of those who were still working saw no pink slips in their future.

In spite of absorbing pay cuts, suspended bonuses and reduced benefits, half of the respondents remained loyal to their current employer, and 50% of the respondents polled reported that they would not quit their jobs even if they won the lottery. What was even more impressive was that 44% of the respondents reported receiving some cut in pay or benefits, says a report in Workforce Management

When asked what the most important reason was for staying in the current job, the respondents narrowed it down to income (39%), enjoying work (33%), a good boss (7%), health benefits (11%), other benefits like retirement (5%) and others (5%).
