Taiwan hit by talent shortageBy: Lisa Cheong, Singapore Published: Jun 01, 2009 Taiwan - Two in three Taiwanese employers say it is difficult to find people to fill up job vacancies, according to a survey released by Manpower.
According to the Taipei Times, 62% of Taiwanese employers saying that good talent is hard to come by, this number is higher compared to the rest of Japan (55%), Australia (49%) and New Zealand (39%). Only China and India said they had no problem with the talent shortage “Talent shortages in Asia Pacific mirror those of the rest of the world, with 32 percent of the region’s employers indicating they are having difficulty filling positions due to the lack of suitable talent in their markets,” the company said in the statement.
Skilled trades people, sales representatives and technicians are occupations which are most ini demand across the world. “Despite high levels of unemployment in many markets, this year’s talent survey suggests a mismatch between the type of individuals available for work and the specific skills that employers are looking for,” Manpower chairman Jeffrey Joerres said in the statement.
“This conundrum is frustrating both employers and individuals.” he said. Manpower Related Stories: Latest stories by Lisa Cheong: |
