The onboarding train

US – In a downturn where every hire is important, ensuring that an employee is properly integrated during his or her first day, month and year now becomes of greater importance. The survey also finds that more companies are automating their onboarding processes with new employee forms and tasks management. This will benefit companies in time savings, data accuracy, compliance, and overall readiness.

68% of companies now say they have a formal onboarding process, an increase from 62% of companies who had such a process in 2007.

31% is the increase that companies can see in employee retention and engagement with an onboarding process.

24% is the average decrease in the time-to-productivity for new employees in companies that conduct onboarding.

50% of the 600 companies surveyed say the poor economy will increase the importance of onboarding in 2009.
