India - Employees at Satyam Computer Services will see their variable pay withdrawn, as the company rolled out a slew of cost-cutting measures.
In a company email, CEO A. S. Murty said only the minimum guaranteed 25% would be paid for the last two quarters, beginning from October 2008 to March 2009. From April 1st, Satyam's variable compensation policy will be withdrawn for all associates. However, a revenue-linked allowance would be introduced for associates working in approved "billable" roles and who were allocated to billable customer projects.
According to The Hindu, Murty said that the company's priority was in maintaining a healthy balance between achieving aggressive goals, retaining talent, and lowering expenses. He also said job security and retention were also given highest priority as well.
