Singapore – Singaporean companies are playing Cupid by signing single employees up for activities that will allow workers to meet new people and potential soulmates.
One such organisation is the National Environment Agency (NEA), which has its own social activity organiser, Interact Point. Interact Point is aimed at creating networking opportunities for singles in the organisation by hosting events and activities that would interest busy individuals.
NEA believes achieving work-life balance is the key to a more fulfilling life. This was why Interact Point tapped on the opportunity when Romancing Singapore advertised their Dating@Sea with Star Cruises. Four employees signed up for the programme at rates subsidised by the NEA.
An NEA spokeperson said, “By joining events organised by external organisations, the staff would have a wider pool of like-minded people to befriend and hence enlarge their social circle.”
Dating@Sea was first launched in 2007 and is supported by many pro-family MNCs and SMEs. According to Andrew Chow, founder of Ideas and Concepts, many singles were registered by their company's HR department.
“It is the only social event which combines recreation, travel and qualitative networking while giving ample personal time for singles over a 44-hour duration,” said Chow.
