HR job moves of the week from Essence, Facebook, and more

HR Practitioner Appointments

Veli Aghdiran is VP learning and culture, APAC at EssenceHaving been with Essence since 2013, Aghdiran quickly moved up the ranks, with his most recent promotion being from learning and culture director (APAC) at Essence, to VP for learning and culture, APAC at Essence, effective January 2018. Prior to joining Essence, Aghdiran held various roles in KidStart as well as founded an online marketing consultancy, Blatant Word. He remains based in Singapore.

Klennis Lau joins Pedder Group - Lane Crawford Joyce GroupWith effect from November 2017, Pedder Group - Lane Crawford Joyce Group has appointed Lau to the role of VP, human resources for Asia, based in Hong Kong. This saw her moving away from her previous role as head of HR for Hong Kong and Macau at Cartier. Prior to that, Lau held various roles in Giorgio Armani Hong Kong, G2000 (Apparel), and L’Oreal Hong Kong.

Daryl Boey joins Facebook as university recruiter, APACJoining the social media company effective January 2018, he remains based in Singapore, moving from Accenture, where he covered campus talent acquisition for ASEAN (ex-the Philippines), managing entry-level hiring, the end-to-end recruitment processes for the internship programmes, and key early talent and assessment projects and forging key partnerships with tertiary educational institutions, student organisations and agencies.

Speaking to Human Resources, Boey revealed in this new role he will be recruiting for graduate and MBA roles from countries such as India, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore.

Cipla welcomes Anupam Hans to its HR teamAfter his 6-month stint as a freelance talent consultant, effective December 2017, Hans was appointed to the role director HR/group talent acquisition at Cipla, based in India. Prior to doing freelance work, Hans held various HR and consulting roles at The Taplow Group, India, Edelweiss Financial Services, and Reliance Industries.

KPOC welcomes Zain Azrai as new HR services managerAfter 5 years with Korn Ferry Hay Group, Zain Azrai left his role as senior consultant to join Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Company (KPOC), a joint operating company of Petronas, Shell and ConocoPhillips. In his role as HR services manager, Zain is managing the compensation and benefits, and Manpower Planning portfolios. Zain is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.


HR Solutions Provider Appointments

Sheldon Toh is promoted by Frazer JonesEffective January 2018, Toh was promoted by the recruitment company from senior consultant - HR recruitment Southeast Asia, to associate director - HR recruitment Southeast Asia, based in Singapore. Prior to joining Frazer Jones, Toh was a consultant at Michael Page as well as held various HR roles at Citibank and SAP Asia.

Samuel Dennis moves up the ranks at HudsonHaving been with the recruitment company since 2014, Dennis quickly moved up the ranks with his most recent promotion being from manager - accounting and finance, to associate director - technology, accounting and finance, effective November 2017. Remaining based in Singapore, prior to joining Hudson, Dennis was with Michael Page as senior consultant - accounting and finance, as well as held various roles with Coca-Cola.

Vivian Teng joins EY as resourcing managerEffective December 2017, Teng took up the Singapore-based role with EY, moving from her previous role as senior HR executive - talent acquisition at JOS Singapore. Prior to being with JOS Singapore, she was a recruitment professional at IBM Malaysia. Teng holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and human resources from the National University of Malaysia (UKM).

Aveenashpal Ganapathy takes up a new role at Michael PageEffective January 2018, Ganapathy was promoted by the recruitment company to the role of senior consultant (HR recruitment - manufacturing / industrial), from his previous role as consultant (HR recruitment - manufacturing / industrial). Remaining based in Malaysia, prior to joining Michael Page, Ganapathy was a headhunter at Sheffield Executive.

Arin Goswami joins IBMGoswami joined the technology company in November 2017 in the role of advisory consultant - Workday HCM, based in India. This saw him move away from his previous role as human resources manager at HDFC Bank. Prior to that he was a human resources senior executive at Orient Electric.

Hays promotes Michael ChuEffective December 2017, Chu was promoted by Hays to section manager at Hays Life Sciences, from his previous role as senior consultant at Hays Life Sciences, based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Hays in 2015, Chu was a trainee with Pfizer.

Speaking to Human Resources, Chu said: “My role here is to build on Hays HK's current capabilities in the life sciences space to maintain our market position. At the moment, we have several dedicated recruiters in the space and are expanding our team.”
